How to use Zoom for my On-line Classes

“Meeting” is Zoom lingo for the class.  If it is your first time using Zoom, the program should download automatically; it may first ask your permission to do this. Zoom is totally free and simple to use!

Once you’re connected, be sure to select “allow internet audio calling” or “connect with computer audio” or something along those lines. Be sure to click that so you can hear what’s being said. Choose “speaker view” to get the largest image of what I am demonstrating. “Gallery view” will show smaller images of everyone in a grid arrangement.

In the lower left corner you will see an icon for a microphone that you can click to mute yourself.  Next to it is a red icon of a video camera. Click that if you prefer not to be seen.

Once the class begins, I will mute everyone so as to avoid the distraction of background noises. At that time you may use the “chat” function at the bottom to ask questions or make comments.

I will open the meeting at least 15 minutes before the start time, and I recommend you log on during this time to familiarize yourself with the features. While you’re there, you can meet or say “hi” to others who are doing the same. This is the “class before the class” when you have a chance to ask questions or make requests (“Cris, can we work on…”), which I will accommodate if I can. I also stay on after the class for the same reason.

Thank you! I look forward to cultivating some qi with you soon!
Cris
