How Qigong Lowers Blood Pressure
Last week one of our Zoom Qigong class members was excited to share some news. Her doctor was concerned about her hypertension, and asked her to wear a heart monitor for a week to record her blood pressure. “One day, as an experiment, I did some slow, deep breaths like we practice in class before I took my blood pressure. It was so low I thought I had made a mistake, so I did it again, and it was still low! I can’t believe it, it really works! It’s so simple, and it works!”
Qigong is a practice that helps prevent problems from arising. We learn how to notice, modify, and even transform our response to stress and tension before it can tear up our body, mind, and spirit. Yes, it’s simple! And yes, it works! Just take a look at this 30-year study, below. I found it on Ken Cohen’s website, kennethcohen.com. He’s one of the pioneers who brought Qigong to the attention of the western medical establishment, and a wonderful, beloved teacher. His website is full of fascinating information.
