Strong Back and Hips
Have you been diagnosed with spinal osteopenia or osteoporosis? You’re not alone. In fact, so many of you have told me that you have some degree of “osteo” that I’ve decided to teach a workshop focused specifically on how to safely strengthen the back muscles in order to align and support the spine. This is valuable information to have, especially if you’ve been advised to do more weight bearing exercise-- it’s important to do those exercises correctly! I’ll teach how to adjust or modify exercises to avoid stressing the joints, and explain how to apply these principles to daily life activities. Bonus: this work will also strengthen your balance skills.
“You’re only as strong as your spine” as someone smart once said. Of course, having strong muscles is only part of the formula for mitigating the challenges of osteoporosis; I’ll also teach safe ways to stretch the hamstring and hip muscles that connect to the spine and support healthy alignment.
