SEASONS OF RENEWAL
Explaining Qigong in an “elevator speech” is challenging. I’ve tried “It’s a set of beautiful, flowing mindbody exercises, backed by lots of research, that are easy on the joints, enhance flexibility, and help you let go of stress, while strengthening your body and immune system.” Or: “It’s a fail proof way to turn your stress into energy” which is great for type- A personalities with limited attention spans. How do you explain Qigong? I’d love to know! Please share your thoughts below.
Here’s another description paraphrased from an advertisement: “Qigong teaches how to create seasons of renewal within you”. As we move into the darkness of winter, I appreciate the concept of having access to “seasons of renewal” within. No matter how grumpy, depressed, foggy-minded or creaky- jointed we may feel before the class, we know the gentle, deeply enlivening exercises we do together will ALWAYS help us feel better. This is especially powerful—and enjoyable—as we practice together as a group and is one of many reasons I am so grateful to you all. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me create and grow our wonderful Qigong group.
