Kiss the Earth with your Feet
“We have to walk in a way that we only print peace and serenity on the Earth… be aware of the contact of your feet with the Earth. Walk as if you are kissing the Earth with your feet.”
Thich Nhat Hanh
While in the city recently, I was struck by the variety of ways in which people navigate the sidewalks. Some tail gate impatiently, anxious to move past the obstacles ahead of them. Surprisingly many walk with their eyes glued to their phones, never looking up, and never slowing down. (I’m not sure how they do it, they must get lots of practice.) I’m a fast walker, too. It’s my nature. However, I like to slow down once in a while. I call it “making an appointment with the here and now”.
When you slow down, you can breathe more deeply and smoothly. You’ll notice more, both around you and within you. This is what we practice in Qigong. We learn to detach from the auto-pilot pressured mode of constant hurry and strive. We learn to trust and enjoy how it feels to move slowly and mindfully, without stress, feeling good in our bodies, right here, right now.
NOTE: Now offering Tao Yin (Chinese Yoga) -- Sundays 10:45 -11:45. Unlock flexibility you never knew you had! Tao Yin utilizes acupressure points, deep breathing, and flowing stretches to help break through patterns of tension, stagnation, and stress. It’s a wonderful treat for your body, mind, and spirit. Great for first-timers and those who “can’t stretch”. Yes, you can and I’ll show you how. 😊
The price for this class is an optional donation of $10 dollars, or whatever you can afford. You don’t need to take Qigong to participate in the Tao Yin class, but I recommend it! Use the same zoom link as for the regular Qigong classes.
