Preventative Medicine, Then and Now
I’d like to share with you a good summary I found of the work of Dr. Candace Pert, one of the most important medical pioneers of recent times: just click the link below. Perhaps you’re already familiar with Pert’s discovery of what she termed “molecules of emotion”; it led to a new understanding of how the previously separated studies of neurology, immunology, and endocrinology, are actually intricately interconnected. This information feels particularly relevant today as we head into the challenging season of early darkness, midterm elections, variants, flu, and stressful preparations for holiday merry-making, whether feeling merry or not.
Please don’t let the multisyllabic scientific terms discourage you. As you’ll read below, Dr. Pert’s discoveries explain much of what we Qi-sters experience each time we play Qigong: our bodies, minds, and the powerful, mysterious energies swirling around and through us all cooperate and influence the ever-changing dance of aliveness. Her research validates what the Taoists, Yogis, shamans, and other healers have known for centuries.
In our Qigong classes this week (as every week) we’ll focus on ways to keep anxiety and stress from taking up residence in our bodyminds. This is the root of Qigong as preventative medicine. We’ll keep those peptides flowing and the good energy growing!
